Set 61216 - Stadium Grandstand

This was a major overhaul for the grandstand to give it a smart, sleek new look. Gone is the tan and green, and in comes red and blue seating with white trimmings. In the new design the lower tier is sat forward so the stand takes up more floor/table space. However, there is actually less room for the crowd because the back half of this tier is lost behind semi-transparent plastic. The set was originally issued with 25 unpainted supporters, but later this was increased to 50. The later versions also have a slight colour variation - with the blue being deeper, and the red brighter. When the latest stands came out in 2000, for the re-launched Grandstand Edition, both floors were in red and the roof was a much lighter grey.
